Evening at the Corniche, Doha
The Corniche is where Doha seems to gather at the end of the day. Families, runners, cyclists and visitors all share the waterfront as the sun settles behind the city and the skyline begins to glow.
This painting is inspired by an evening walk along Al Corniche. The open promenade, the calm waters of Doha Bay and the ever-changing skyline, with cranes still shaping the horizon, captured a city that continues to grow while embracing its waterfront.
I was less interested in painting individual buildings than in preserving the feeling of that evening. The gentle light, the silhouettes of people and the quiet rhythm of the Corniche made it a moment worth remembering.
