Morning Hush, Varanasi
Every city has a different way of greeting the morning. In Varanasi, even an ordinary street can feel calm before the day’s energy takes over.
This watercolor is inspired by a quiet tree-lined street where an auto rickshaw slowly made its way towards me through the soft morning light. It wasn’t a famous location or a planned stop. It was simply one of those moments that made me pause and appreciate the beauty of everyday life.
For this painting, I kept the palette restrained with cool blues, muted greens, and warm neutrals to capture the freshness of the morning. Loose washes, soft edges, and untouched areas of paper helped create the atmosphere rather than focusing on architectural details. The goal was to paint the feeling of the place, not just the scene itself.
This is my Day 04 painting for July Watercolor Month. Four days into the challenge, I’m enjoying the process of turning simple travel moments into watercolor memories.
