Through the Streets of Pokhara
Every city has streets that quietly become part of your travel memories. You may not remember their names, but you remember how they made you feel.
This watercolor is inspired by a random street in Pokhara, Nepal. The strong perspective, rows of old buildings, overhead wires, and a lone white car instantly caught my attention. A limited blue palette felt like the perfect way to express the calm mood of the scene.
Rather than painting every architectural detail, I focused on the play of light, loose shapes, and the atmosphere of the street. Watercolor has a wonderful way of suggesting more than it describes, leaving room for the viewer to complete the story.
This is my Day 03 painting for July Watercolor Month. Three days in, and I’m enjoying the challenge of slowing down, observing more carefully, and turning simple travel moments into paintings.
