Indian Coffee House, Bengaluru
There’s something timeless about the Indian Coffee House.
It isn’t just a place where people come for coffee. It’s a place where conversations linger, newspapers unfold slowly, friendships are renewed, and strangers quietly become part of the same story.
For the first painting of July Watercolor Month, I chose a scene from the Indian Coffee House in Bengaluru. Instead of focusing on architectural details, I wanted to capture the feeling of the space, the soft morning light filtering through the windows, the silhouettes of people lost in their own worlds, and the calm rhythm that seems to exist inside these historic cafés.
I worked with a limited palette, letting the dark values define the figures while allowing the untouched paper to become the light. The loose brushwork and soft edges were intentional; watercolor often tells a stronger story when it leaves room for imagination.
This painting marks the beginning of my 31 day watercolor journey. My goal isn’t perfection… it’s consistency, observation, and the joy of painting a little every day.
I hope you’ll enjoy following along throughout the month.
